The internship is hosted under the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD), a hub of excellence supporting private sector engagement in development. The intern will work closely with the SDG AI Lab, UNDP’s innovation-driven unit that uses AI, ML, and GIS tools to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
📌 Key Responsibilities
As a Generative AI Intern, you will:
- Conduct research on the applications of Generative AI, NLP, and Large Language Models (LLMs) to address development issues such as poverty, inequality, and digital inclusion.
- Develop analytical briefs and research reports for public and policy audiences.
- Assist in creating and implementing AI-based solutions for development use cases.
- Support the integration of AI tools with Microsoft 365 applications using Power Automate.
- Provide logistical, research, and administrative support to team activities, including conferences and technical meetings.
🎓 Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be enrolled in a Master’s programme, final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or have graduated within the last year in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, etc.).
✅ Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
- Experience with NLP tools and models like SpaCy, NLTK, BERT, RoBERTa, GPT-4.
- Knowledge of Prompt Engineering and experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, ChromaDB.
- Familiarity with performance and bias evaluation techniques for AI models.
- Experience or interest in Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform is a plus.
🌐 Language Requirements
- Required: Excellent spoken and written English
- Desired: Knowledge of another UN language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic)
💰 Stipend and Benefits
Interns will receive a monthly stipend under UNDP’s internship policy, unless supported by another institution. Note that medical and life/accident insurance are required and must be arranged by the intern.
